Seeking information on my ancestor, Dr. Anthony Maxwell, who I estimate to have been born about 1710.  He was most likely born somewhere within the British Isles and likely emigrated to America in the 1730s.  Documentation has him practicing medicine at Walpack, New Jersey in the 1740s and 50s.  He is also the earliest known person to have worked the "Old Dutch Mines" at Pahaquarry--one of his partners in that mine was John Reading who would become Governor of New Jersey.

Circumstantial evidence suggests that Anthony Maxwell was the father, and father-in-law, of several officers who fought in the Continental Army during the American Revolution and that one of his sons was the first to hold the post, "Messenger of the Senate", while one of his son-in-laws held the post "Sergeant at Arms" of the Senate.

Anthony Maxwell was married to Eve Vreeland (aka Freeland). Sometime prior to the American Revolution (1776) the majority of his children were living at New York City.

Effie Maxwell Cronin is thought to have been the daughter of Anthony Maxwell and there is a document that she signed which included her seal which was given as a "red seal with heraldic device: a wyvern".
