I'm a descendent of the Revolutionary War Maxwells of Virginia. My paternal grandmother was Wilma Maxwell, born in Nebraska. She was directly from a line of Maxwell-surname males, several generations in the U.S. It's difficult to separate fact and folk stories. James Maxwell appears here and there on internet searches as 'big chief' but I believe the nickname is more associated with his homestead than anything else. He was a captain and I believe he led a militia at King's Mountain. He was survived by some sons. Do you know where one can research a connection with the Maxwell's of this webpage? Thank you kindly, KSR |
