| There is also a Jacobite prisoner, William Maxwell in eastern NC who jumped ship in 1716 at York, Virginia. William Stewart escaped with him both are found in the Albemarle Area of Carolina, lumbering, milling, trading, buying land. He bought land in 1746 in Hyde County as the 1808 Strother map indicates. His neighbor was a Mr. Wilkison. Did this William return to London and come back to the Edgecomb District in 1734? |
