My GGGGrandfather was Dr. Herbert C. Maxwell MD, who migrated from the Dumfries, Scotland area to Raleigh, North Carolina, USA about 1812. He was a family physician in Raleigh, NC for the next 50 years. My GGGrandfather was William Preston Maxwell, born in Scotland in 1812. He migrated with his father to North Carolina at the age of 6 months. He (William) lived in Raleigh and Asheville NC, Murfreesboro TN, Whitney and Hillsboro Texas. I will appreciate hearing from anyone with information about this branch of the Maxwells.
