Wife's name Catherine, who later married James Porterfield, and went to NC and Wilkes co GA. Their son Samuel was born early 1740's Married 1768 in Rowen co. NC Elizabeth Work dtr. of Alexander Work of Berts twp Lancaster co Pa. Lived and died 1799 Guilford co NC, their son Samuel jr b abt 1782 Guilford co NC married Mary Gorrell 1802 dtr. of Ralph Gorrell and Mary Kerr of Guilford co NC he moved to Rockingham co NC died there around 1840-45, Their son William Gorrell Maxwell b. 1 April 1809 Rockingham co NC, Married Julia Roberts dtr. of Josiah Roberts and Mary Harris of Rockingham co NC, and 1838-1840 went to Green co Ind. Was on the Knox co Ind census in 1850,died 7 sept 1865 Knox co Ind. buried at Chambers cemetery.
