Try going to Missouri birth and death records on line.  My Maxwell family does not have mining background, they were farmers and wheat dealers. But the Missouri records are free on line and very interesting.  For example, I was able to download my grandfather's death certificate, with lots of information, like the names of his parents.  Good luck.
