Title: Thomas Maxwell/Janet McDougal - 1850's Scotland

I am looking for information on my wife's great great grandmother, Thomasina Maxwell, she was born June 20, 1853, in Kirkhill, Newton Mearns, Renfrewshire, Scotland. I also found her birth registered in Blantyre, Scotland. Her parents were Thomas Maxwell and Janet McDougal. Her mother supposedly died in child birth. Thomasina lived with her father in Ayrshire at an estate I believe that was called "The Shot". Her father died around 1865. It is my understanding that the family lands went to Thomasina's cousins the Mathers.

Thomasina married a Charles Edward Allum on July 4, 1876 at the Episcopal Church in Stirling, Scotland. They had four (4) children namely; (1) James C. E. Allum; (2) Greta Allum; (3) Annette Allum and (4) George Frederick Allum. The family left Scotland in the 1890's and moved to Chicago. It is my understanding that both Charles and Thomasina were very gifted musically. Thomasina was also a very gifted painter.

Any information on her parents Thomas Maxwell and Janet McDougal would be greatly appreciated. Also any information on the place called "the Shot" would be appreciated as well. Thank you.
