My gg Grandfather was Thomas Maxwell, b. 1836 in Ireland, d. 1924 in Nebraska living with his daughter. He is buried in Bedford Iowa USA, I am trying to find information on his father "James", In Thomas' obit it says he came to New York at the age of 3, this would be about 1839-1840 with his parents Mr. & Mrs. James Maxwell from Donegal,Ireland. I fear his obit is in correct as it list him marrying in New York in 1866 to Mrs. Mary Ann Calvin, but I have him joining the military in 1863 in Winnebago Illinois. And many of the local census records list Mary Ann as Mary Ann Mode.  I am running into dead ends everywhere I search. Does anyone have any connections? I have a bit more about Thomas but nothing before joining the Illinois Cavalry in 1863. Any help is appreciated.
