Kristi Rogers,

It has been a long time since your post, but I found this message from you at this website, dated May 2001:

http://www.maxwellsociety.com/USAforum/ShowMessage.Asp?ID=80

Your Post:  "I am searching for my John Maxwell, born 1779 N.C. Married Rebecca ? (Some say last name was Leghorn).  She was born in 1790.  They were married in Tennessee, lived in Hardin and McNairy counties (West Tennessee).  Children were: John Jr, 1818, Ann, Hannah Bell, 1821, James 1820, one more unknown son and two more unknown daughters.  Have been searching for him with no luck.  It is possible he was married prior to Rebecca.  I am at a dead end with him." End of your post.

I was wondering if you found any additional information.  I am curious because, although it is a long shot for me, I am also at a dead end with the Maxwell branch of my family search.  The oldest known information I have is for a "Jack Maxwell" who appears in the legal and public documents of Lawrence Co (Southwest) Missouri, in the late 1840's.  From a later census, Jack was to have been born in Tennessee.  As I said, it is a long shot, but I thought it possibly, however remotely, that the "John Jr." you mentioned in your post above, born in 1818, could possibly be this "Jack."  Jack's son was named John C. and his son (my grandfather) was John A.

Do you have anything at all which gives further info on the John Jr. above, or any thoughts you would be willing to share?

Thank you.  I tried sending to the email address you have posted, but it isn't working.
