Title: Looking for info on family ties to ROBERT MAXWELL and ISABEL DUNBAR of Scotland in the 1700's

I have a genealogy completed by William Ferguson Maxwell of Dallas, Texas in 1967.

The following is an excerpt from that text:

Robert Maxwell was born in Dumfrieshire, Scotland, where he was married to Isabel Dunbar, daughter of William and Margaret Dunbar at Blackside End, Parish of San, Ayrshire. Other children of William and Margaret Dunbar) were Hugh, Margaret (who married Ivy Campbell of Dalgeig), and Janet (who married John Howat of Cummock).

After the rebellion of 1745, Robert moved from Todds Hole, near Dumfries, where he had been living, to Loch Broom, Rothshire, in the Highlands and engaged in sheep-raising on a large scale.

Children of Robert and Isabel Maxwell were William Dunbar Maxwell, and a daughter who married a Mr. McKay. Robert married a second time and had a son Benjamin, who later changed his name to John. A third son Alexander was the son of a third marriage.

Robert Maxwell never emigrated to Canada but William, Benjamin (John) and Alexander did.

I have yet to prove this early information and would like any help you can offer. I do have more information that I can share if this appears to be your family.

Please contact me at:  kaylevy@juno.com    if you would like to share information.

Hope you are enjoying the hunt as much as I am.

Have a great day,
Kay  :-)
