This is my last resort. My great great grandfather Edward Murray Maxwell married a Mary Elizabeth Birnie in Launceston Tasmania Australia in 1855. This is the first record we have of him; after this we have his name on the records of birth for his children. Unfortunately I can find no birth or death records. My aunt said she thought they originated from Kelso Scotland but whether he was born there or in England I do not know. There was a George Maxwell and his wife Ann Wand who emigrated from Hitchin England with his family to Victoria and they had an Edward Murray; however I do not know if this is my great great grandfather.If it is he did not come out with them as I cannot find a shipping link. There are many many Edward Murray Maxwells in shipping lists but I have no way of knowing if he is one of them. Edward and Mary Elizabeth had children called William Thomas, Margaret Ann, Elizabeth, George, Anthony Holmes, Edward Murray and ? Robert. William is my great grandfather but unfortunately he died before his son was old enough to ask questions about the family. If any one is able to help me find his ancestors or if the Victorian family have evidence that they are connected please contact, it would be much appreciated.  Glenys
