Dear forum readers, I am looking for someone who knows anything about a "Mr. Harry Maxwell", who donated 100 books to the main library of The University of Tokyo in 1924 October. The only information I have about him is that he used an emblem just like this: https://x181.secure.ne.jp/~x181007/kamon/image/29531.jpg, but with the capital letters "HM" overlapping each other on the sail; and that he was in connection with a Danish researcher called Carl Gustav Rosenoern, who lived in Kyoto between 1899 and 1922. I have a guess that Harry Maxwell might have also lived in Japan at least for a while, considering the Japanese style of his emblem, but I could not find out more about him so far. Therefore any small help would be extremely useful!! Thank you very much in advance! Sincerely, Gergo Sastyin |
