I am trying to find info. on Thomas Maxwell, a merchant in Portaferry, Co Down Ireland and any Maxwell's further back in the immediate line.  All I have so far is that one of his sons is John Maxwell, born in 1797 in Portaferry, died in Cathkin Australia in June 1862.  John sailed to Australia on the 'Madawaska' in 1850 with his wife Agnes (married in 1829) and 9 children. I would also like to know the name/address of someone in Ireland who could trace this line. Thanks Carolyn
