| I am the daughter of Walter Batterton Lowe of Greensburg, Indiana. (1896-1976). His grandfather Batterton's family was from Bloomington, Indiana, His grandfather was Davies Batterton, ( mother Mathilde Maxwell Batterton was the 11th child of Bazeel Maxwell, 6th child was Dr. David Hervey Maxwell who founded Indiana University beginning in 1820; Davies sister Margaret married Samuel Fowler Dunn, they gave the land for IU @ 1855 and are buried in the cemetery at Beck Chapel on IU campus.). I have in my possession a Maxwell Geneology that was written by other members of this part of the Maxwell family in @1920's, but the material goes back to the Norman Invasion. I believe this Geneology is available on the IU website. I would also be glad to help you,if possible. This is a fascinating family with an amazing heritage. |
