I am trying to trace my ancestery backward and am stuck at James Cornelius MAXWELL [b. Dec. 1847 in th U.S.]-enlisted 8 August 1864 in Co B 49th Reg of Missouri Volunteers and was honorably discharged 2 August 1865. According to some of his military pension papers, he left his home in Missouri in the mid 1870s and went to Colorado and thence to Prescott, Arizona Territory. In Prescott, on October 3,1881, he married Henrietta Densmore of Prescott [b.12(or 22) Nov. 1861 in Denver, Colorado to Joel Henry Densmore and Elizabeth Davis Densmore]. James worked as a carpenter-contractor in Prescott and died of "heart failure" 19 Nov. 1903. He is interred in Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, AZ as is Henrietta Densmore Maxwell d. 14 Feb 1948. Any word at all would be appreciated greatly. He was my grandfather. Betty ps: please excuse the double posting---didn't think the "Title:" thing through. Sorry |
