Thank you for this information.  You mention Maxwells serving in the Union Army--my great great grandfather, John Harrell Maxwell, served as a hospital steward in the 38th IL Infantry Regiment rather than the 98th.  His brothers may have served also, but I don't know.  Are you a Maxwell?  Wondering where your information came from--maybe I could look up those sources for further information..
