Caerlaverock Castle

The unlikely sight of fishermen netting fish in the moat at Caerlaverock is due to Turner's artistic license along with the golden yellow masonry and the slopes of Criffel creeping round to the south of the castle instead of its usual position to the west on the far bank of the Nith.
