"Gunplay" was born Clarence L Maxwell came to Utah from Texas in the 1890's and immediately proved his status as a gunfighter by killing two fellows in a Colton,Utah saloon. 1897 he and Butch Cassidy planned the robbery of annuity funds for the Ute Indians. The robbery did not go as planned and Cassidy excluded "Gunplay" from the innercore of the wild bunch. 1898 he and a man named Porter robbed the Springville,Utah,bank. A posse killed Porter and captured "Gunplay". After serving his time at the Utah State Prison,"Gunplay" returned to Price,Utah where he was killed in a gunfight.
