Hi Anthony I have lots of printed information from family and relatives that I've just started going thru. I don't know if I have much other than the commercially available crests but I'm checking. I am also in the process of contacting as many of the oldest living relatives as I can. My interest is in the Maxwell Knights, thier Shields including the crests they bear and thier armour. What happened to the swords? These were treasured possesions the owners would die to protect and pretenders were prepared scheme and murder for. I would also suggest many Knights would have both combat and ceremonial swords bearing names or crests. This being particularily true of Chiefs, Lords who were fighting knights and Commanders of armies. Comments? Do you know of any private sword collections and how to make contact? Particularily in the UK. or North America. I'm just getting going on the Maxwell swords and I'm sure you're far ahead of me so I'd really appreciate you pointing out any good roads to follow. Yours truly randy |
