Hello Maxwell families! 4th great grandfather, James Maxwell b.abt1755 place unknown, served in the Rev War enlisting at Kittanning, Pa 1776 and received an honorable discharge Feb. 1780 He is found in Rostraver twp Westmoreland Co Pa in 1783 wi/ a household of 4. On 1790 census, himself, 2 sons, and 4 females. His wife, Margaret Hammond, d/o Daniel & Elizabeth (Pope) Hammond. Their Children: Samuel b. abt 1781/83 unknown chld prob son Elizabeth b. 1785 d. abt 1828 Margaret Jane b. abt1787 Mary b. abt 1789 Priscilla b. 1792 d. 1871 Daniel b. (1797) possibly James b. 1797 They may have been twins.... not proven The family resided in Butler County of Pennsylvania. Actual time of migration to Butler unclear --- between 1798/1815 James Maxwell applied for his military pension May of 1818 in Butler Co. He d. 1 July 1838 burial unknown. Additional surnames:Galiher,Morgan,Wright, Johnston,Brown. Some of the family migrated into Ohio (Muskingum co & Gurernsey co) This seems to be an unresearched Maxwell line and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
