Hi there My grandmother, Sarah Louise Karges, nee Maxwell, was from that area - her family was all from Pgh and Butler. Her father was John Maxwell (b. 1874), who married Eliza Chidlow in 1900. His father was also John Maxwell, who was born in 1848 and married Agnes Purdy sometime around 1868. John had at least two brothers that I know of (Hamilton or "Hammy", and William.) I don't know John's parentage but rumor has it that that line bopped back and forth from Ireland quite a bit, probably around Cork. Grandma says the Maxwells in PA had really big broods, so mine might yet be related to yours. |
