I am a decendent of George Maxwell, he was my grandfather. George was shot and killed by Bell Star's gang while helping one of his brothers transport a prisinor. He frequently helped out for the extra money. I think one of his brothers was a deputized lawman during the territorial days and just after statehood. I do not know his brothers name. As I understand the story Bell Star was already dead but the gang was still strong at the time. George was shot in the head and killed instantly while he, the prisinor, and his brother rode into the gangs hideout suprising them. I understand that his brother made it out safely only to meet his death later and was shot from a hotel window in some oklahoma town. I understand his brother to be fast at the draw and carried two guns on his hips. It was said that upon being shot he whirled around looking for his assalant with both guns cocked and ready while falling to his death. Maybe some relation, I am not sure about, but maybe this will help with your search. George was burried in UFalla oklahoma's cemetary.
