Ordinance Survey Maps which cover the area are:- Landranger 84 Dumfries & Castle Douglas Landranger 78 Nithdale & Annandale just checked ebay you should get them for around £4 $7 Blaeu Atlas of Scotland, 1654 national library of Scotland is well worth looking at for the older layout of the land.   I have a framed copy of "Nithisdale" hanging on my wall - it's quite ornamental.
