Father Maxwell was my uncle. He was my dad's brother. He was born in Minnesota probably around 1910 or so. He graduated from Gonzaga University.I think he became a priest at Mt. Angel seminary.He died around the middle seventies after losing his speech to throat cancer. After his tenure at St. Paul, he was the pastor of the Catholic church in Florence, Oregon. He is buried at the cemetery in St. Paul, Oregon. He was a great guy and my favorite uncle. My last memory of Uncle Jim was when he and my parents surprised me at a basketball game I was coaching in Cottage Grove, Oregon. He had been the parish priest at Cottage Grove during World War 2. My dad was in the Service and the diocese of Portland temporarily transferred him to Cottage Grove so he could be closer to his mother(my grandmother) in Eugene. He was a great guy.
