Lost my link to this. Interesting progress thanks to Y-DNA. The documented Family Tree done in 1988 traced my Maxwell parentage back then into the marriage of George Mackison m Mary Jack 1814 which always confused me. Ancestry DNA - ZERO Mackisons but multiple Maxwells at 5th-8th cousin hence prior to the 1814 marriage. Also found evidence of Mackisons using Maxwell name BUT I have the reverse problem. FamilyTreeDNA has lots of Maxwell links in America that link back to pre 1814 again.
