I have a fairly extensive Clan in that area a little further south though.Several are buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetary outside of Pitchin, Clark Co.I have a hand written page that my father did from walking thru but some nice person has microfilmed and digitized the register from the church records. It is online @ www.geocities.com/Heartland/Garden/3458/Townships/Green/Pleasant Grove.htm------------------------ Unfortunately, the Names John and James are VERY common in our clan and considerable digging is required to isolate which one goes where.I do know that a large group of Maxwells seem to be from the New York(ish)entry pionts and some landed in Va. and further south in Carolinas and Ga.My branch came up from Va.(may not have been entry point though). One must find the county that you can trace it too and see if any help is in databases online. The next step would be clear your calendar and drive all over searching dusty courthouse basements and such.My last ancestor I can verify is James G.Maxwell b.11/11/1814- ??? Va.?-d.11/28/1887 Pitchin(married a McKinney from Pa.).I have looked Extensively through the famous William and bro Thomas Maxwell the Printer(1st in Ohio) from the (N.Y.?)Pa.,Ky.,Giles Tn., W.Va. and even up as north as Xenia/Dayton Oh.(I lived there even!!) and no relation to me.The only John relation to me is John William Maxwell b.5/30/1885-d. 11/23/1961 (Pitchin)married Nettie Sisk.So sorry I could not help.
