Billy was killed in my great grandmothers bedroom, Paulita Maxwell, when her brother Peter Maxwell alerted Pat Garret he was coming to see her at night. My family history says he was climbing thru a window and grabbed a butcher knife to defend himself while being shot. That kniefe was passed down thru the family. That elderly woman might have been my grandmother adelina wellborn who was Paulitas daughter. she lived in Fort Sumner, and her daughter is my mother, Ollie Eva Welborn. Paulitas father was Lucien B Maxwell.
