Bobbi, I think I corresponded with you a couple of years ago. John Maxwell died in Carndonagh, Donagh Parish, County Donegal in March 1838. Wife Rebecca Maxwell with 2 youngest children Samuel and Alexander sailed in July 1850 from Londonderry, County Londonderry, Ireland on the "Provincialist" and landed in Philadelphia in August 10, 1850. Eldest son William Maxwell (my forebear) went to Scotland, Thomas Maxwell tok Dublin and the rest of the family went to America at different times. They clustered in Washington Township, Jefferson County, PA where Willliam Maxwell (1801-1864)brother-in-law of Rebecca Maxwell had arrived in the 1840's. Shows up in the Presbyterian Church records of Beechwoods at that time. Rebecca arrives in 1852 and spend the rest of her life there. Rebecca (1794-1874) is buried in Beechwoods Cemetary with 18 Maxwells 4 of whom are related directly. Did you ever get any birth data on John or Rebecca Maxwell, their parents, their marriage etc. Thanks Bill Maxwell Rancho Mirage CA |
