Hi Jennifer, So pleased to get the message back so soon. When we came to Scotland we stayed at the Star Hotel in Twynholm I wanted to see where my grandmother Margaret Helen Maxwell / Young lived as a girl, with Jean ( your great grandmother)Bessie, Tommy and Robert. She always talked of her grandfather Thomas and I would love to know more about him, was he the Thomas Maxwell who was the first magistrate in Dalbeatti? Also who was his Mother and father, I have found a Thomas and Agnes but not sure if I am on the  right track, theres a Thomas Maxwell and Mary Wilson as his father before that. I have a list of   children of our Thomas the butcher who died his wife Margaret Hyslop / Maxwell must have been pregnant continually. If I can get it printed out , I will send it and some other stuff I hope you find interesting.Margery and Robert were my mums cousins so I thing we are cousins four times removed as they say.Ralph Payne who also left a message on this site is also a distant relation, Thomas is his great great grandfather, his father is my cousin. Hope this isnt too confusing.
